Your AI agents can now control your Google Home devices
By Pradhyuman,
Google launched early access to a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for its Google Home ecosystem. The system allows AI agents that support MCP - such as Claude, ChatGPT, Hermes, and Google Antigravity - to control connected devices and access activity logs using natural language.
Users must set up a Google Cloud project and configure it with Home MCP to connect their chosen agent. The server works with Google Nest hardware and Matter-compatible devices. People can use agents to view camera summaries, monitor activity, control devices, and build custom dashboards.
Google is rolling out the feature to subscribers of its $20-per-month Google Home Premium Advanced plan in the U.S. Google did not state if the feature will expand to other subscription tiers or countries.
