Gemini agentic updates for enterprise
Google announced an update that allows Gemini to execute tasks for corporate users. Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated at a Google Cloud event that Gemini has over 1 billion monthly active users. Pichai said Google is releasing these features to businesses first to solve security and scale issues.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian explained that the AI accepts objectives rather than simple instructions. The agent plans work and connects to corporate systems, including Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, and Snowflake. Users can let the system select a model or manually choose third-party options, such as models from Anthropic.
The update gives the AI its own Google Workspace account with a dedicated email address. The agent records an audit trail for its actions and shows progress inside a tasks inbox interface. Early testers include Shopify and PayPal.
