YouTube will let you build your own algorithm with AI

By Pradhyuman,

YouTube announced a feature called custom feeds at its Made On YouTube event. The tool allows users to type text descriptions into a prompt box to specify which videos they want recommended to them.

Google's Gemini AI model processes the text prompt to generate the feed. YouTube pins each custom feed to a separate tab at the top of the user's home page. The feature operates alongside the main recommendation feed rather than replacing it.

Emily Moxley, YouTube VP of Product Management for Viewer AI, stated that the platform hosts over 20 billion videos. Other platforms, such as Bluesky, Threads, Instagram, X, and Spotify, also offer feed-building tools.

YouTube will roll out support for multiple custom feeds on web and mobile starting next month.
