Thea Energy lands $20M federal grant to build its magnets for fusion reactors
By Pradhyuman,
I still struggle to assemble target bookshelves, so I cannot imagine the nightmare of building a fusion reactor. Thea Energy just landed twenty million dollars from the government to make their stellarator magnets, and their solution is basically to use software to fix hardware mistakes. By using hundreds of small, identical magnets controlled by code instead of custom-twisted metal, they might actually pull this off. It is a clever shortcut for a field that usually over-engineers everything. We will see if it works by the mid-2040s. Keep visiting to get more updates. Maintained by Pradhyuman.
