AI infrastructure company Cornelis raises $205M to chip away at Nvidia’s dominance
By Pradhyuman,
Cornelis announced on Monday that it raised $205 million in a funding round led by IAG Capital Partners. The company spun off from Intel in 2020 and creates networking technology for artificial intelligence chips.
The company also announced a product called Active Compute Fabric. This networking technology allows chips to process and send data at the same time to reduce wasted GPU waiting time. Cornelis uses an open architecture, which lets customers connect different GPUs and accelerator hardware to its fabric. In contrast, Nvidia optimizes its chips for its own software stack.
Cornelis has started shipping its product and plans to release a new generation later this year.
