The maker of non-text AI model Jev valued at $7.5B just weeks after launch

TypeSafe AI raised $870 million in a funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz. The round valued the startup at $7.5 billion. Sequoia and DCVC also joined the round. TypeSafe AI released its AI model, Jev, on September 15, 2026. The company stated that one-third of Fortune 500 companies use Jev.

Jev uses a transformer architecture, but it is not a large language model. It outputs probabilities, which the company calls calibrated decisions, instead of text or code. TypeSafe AI stated that Jev works faster and uses fewer tokens than large language models to automate tasks. Co-founder Diogo Almeida told TechCrunch that human language models are not useful for automation because computers speak a different language. Almeida founded the company in 2024 with Sasha Sheng and Erik Gafni.
