Can Safeworld convince people that GenAI robots won’t hurt them?

By Pradhyuman,

Dr. Ding Zhao, Kyle Wong, and Simo Rachidi launched Safeworld to evaluate generative AI robotic control systems. The company raised over $12 million in a seed round led by Shine Capital and a16z Speedrun. Box Group, Carnegie Mellon University Endowment, Innovation Endeavors, and SV Angel also invested in the round.

Safeworld tests robot software inside virtual environments using simulation models like Genesis or MuJoCo. The platform runs scenarios with digital humans to check if a robot can avoid collisions around blind corners or react if a person trips.

Gritt Robotics is partnering with Safeworld to test robots that install solar farms. Gritt Robotics CTO Vishal Dugar stated that safety verification for these systems must happen empirically because formal mathematical proofs are not possible for these models.
