Model Details and Pricing
Anthropic released Opus 5.5 on Tuesday as the top tier of its Claude product lineup. The company stated that Opus 5.5 outperforms its larger Fable model in multiple coding and knowledge work benchmarks. Output tokens cost $20 per million, down from $25 in the previous version.
The new model uses less jargon and places key information at the start of responses. Anthropic plans to release Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 in the coming weeks.
Safety Controls
Anthropic applied biological and cybersecurity safeguards to Opus 5.5 because its capabilities match the Mythos model. External organizations METR and Frontier Design evaluated the system prior to release.
The launch follows a post by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who wrote that the company would pace capability advances to allow risk prevention to keep up.
