OpenAI launches Dots, its bubbly agentic avatar

OpenAI announced Dots, a personal assistant powered by GPT-6 Astra, at its DevDay event. The software operates continuously in the background without specific hardware or interfaces. OpenAI released the tool for ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium users, who can launch Dots through Codex or ChatGPT.

Platform support and specialized tasks

Users can message Dots through platforms including Slack and Teams. OpenAI stated it will add text message support soon. The company is working with Microsoft to integrate the assistants into Agent 365 security controls. OpenAI noted that users can provision individual Dots with specific credentials to handle tasks such as monitoring customer feedback or rerunning data analysis.
